FAQ

The things people most often want to check before they book. If yours is not answered here, ask on WhatsApp.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. You can book directly. If a psychiatrist or physician is already involved and you would like me to coordinate with them, I can, but only with your written permission.

Will anybody find out that I am seeing a psychologist?

Not from me. Confidentiality is the foundation of this work and it applies to your family as well. The only exceptions are the ones the law requires: a serious risk to your life or someone else’s, or a court order. If that ever came up, I would discuss it with you first wherever it is safe to do so.

Can we talk in Urdu?

Yes. Urdu, English, or moving between the two — whichever one your thoughts actually come in. Therapy works best in the language you feel in, not the one you were educated in.

Are online sessions as good as sitting in a room?

For most concerns, yes, and the research supports that. What matters far more is that you have a private place to sit and a connection that holds. Online sessions suit people outside Lahore, women who cannot travel easily, and anyone who would rather not be seen walking into a clinic.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you bring. A specific difficulty such as panic or a phobia often resolves in eight to fourteen sessions. Longstanding patterns take longer. We review progress openly rather than letting therapy drift on.

What if I go and I do not like it?

Then say so, or simply do not come back — you owe nobody an explanation. Fit between a client and a therapist matters, and if I am not the right person for you I will gladly suggest a colleague who might be.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Clinical psychologists do not prescribe. If medication seems worth considering, I will explain why and refer you to a psychiatrist I trust. Many people do well with therapy alone; some do better with both.

What if I need to cancel?

Let me know at least twenty four hours ahead and the session is moved with no charge. Cancellations after that, or missed appointments, are charged in full, because the time is held for you.

Taking the first step is the hardest part

Pick a time that suits you, or write a few lines first if that feels easier. Either way, you will hear back from Dr Saba herself.
